My Opinion on Videogame Events

December 12th 2025 (The clock striked 12 while I was in the process of writing this, so maybe this is technically in December 13th 2025?)

Ah, videogame events... They are both a great way to introduce new content and to concentrate player engagement in a certain timespan.

The problem is that sometimes they are too grindy. It's gotten to the point I dread holidays sometimes LOL

I know it's a really cold take, but I just needed to vent about how much I dislike the really hard to complete events. Even me, a computer freak who dedicates 8+ hours to rotting in his computer, feels like I cannot reasonably complete them all...

I specially hate the "advent calendar" style events that expect you to log in every single day in order to earn exclusive rewards that will never ever appear again. Nice way to toy with people's FOMO, eh?

Although I have expressed dismay at short-timed events, I do wanna say that I enjoy "concert" style events that only happen once or twice at a specific date, though of course it would be nice if you could also get to experience them in-game after the first screening has happened.

There's also the problem about locking playable content behind limited time events. I hope you don't have to end up waiting 11 months to unlock a character or play on your favorite map!

I guess this is kind of like how consuming other types of entertainment is like. You cannot reasonably go watch every movie or theater play ever, even if you try to just pick from the ones that are currently showing. Maybe I should just accept I cannot be everywhere and do everything at the same time and suck it up.

I get really nervous at one-time decisions, to be honest. Even people asking me if I wanna go out with them or if I wanna stay at home by myself tends to be a question I hesitate with often. And it's all because I have a big FOMO.

Whatever. It's not gonna be the end of the world if I don't get a cool limited time item in a videogame. Maybe I should worry about more important things. But then again, this is a blog where I can talk about anything, no matter how "trivial" or "not that deep" it is.

Anyways, squirrel out.
